Provence Classic

In one of our previous posts, we mentioned how the Provençal designs came into being in the 18th Century. These were heavily inspired by the imported Indian printed cottons which were all the rage.  Paisley, the stylized flowers ("calissons" - named after a Provence lozenge-shaped almond candy) and stylized birds were favored design elements. Over the years, these changed to more Provence-iconic details such as olives, lemons from Nice, mimosa, and, of course, lavender.

Today, we are excited to bring back some of the more classic elements thanks to our Provence Classic collection, along with the Field Flowers sets, created from the original Valdrôme design plates. These classic designs acquire new life with the addition of brighter, sharper colors. We think these placemat sets would be the perfect match for a relaxing summer meal - perhaps serving a baby artichoke Niçoise salad?

Of course, if you prefer cotton jacquard to printed cottons, check out our Provence Spring tablecloths & napkins. The gorgeous classical Provence design elements done in bright colors and cotton jacquard.  Pass the rosé.

Summer is still with us - to be enjoyed fully, of course.  But as we see advertisements for back-to-school, our thoughts may turn towards fall holidays and entertaining. If they do - now would be a good time to take advantage of our summer sale.  Enter SUMMERSALE at checkout for 20% off your entire Provence Table order, through July 31.
